As you walk through the main entrance, and throughout the building, Seymour Court has the feel of a boutique hotel. Greenbank has been providing support for some of the most vulnerable young people in Trafford for almost 20 years. The scheme offers accommodation for single, homeless young people, aged 16-19, from the Trafford area. Rooms are provided for a maximum of one year; during that time, the Greenbank team
works closely with the residents, helping them to develop independent living skills, and addressing any issues that may be holding them back from achieving their potential.
Greenbank’s recently refurbished site comprises 21 fully furnished bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room. Two of the rooms are held open for young people in an emergency situation and can be accessed 24/7.
This facility ensures that, in crisis situations, a young person does not end up on the streets or in unsuitable bed and breakfast accommodation. There are also five kitchens, a shared lounge, communal laundry facilities, and a gym on site.

Heaton Court’s reception has been styled in a way in which residents can sit in a bright and colourful area with contemporary bespoke artwork and tasteful wall dressings such as mirrors and clocks. The chairs provide a comfortable area for residents to use whilst waiting for taxis or family members to arrive or to simply admire the artwork, which some residents currently do.
It is a popular and impressive development in a prime location on a pleasant leafy road, five minutes walk from Sale town centre with its wide range of shops and amenities. The nearby Metrolink runs lines to Altrincham and Manchester city centre.
The residents’ lounge with its vaulted ceiling is light and welcoming and opens directly onto private gardens and an enclosed courtyard area where residents can enjoy the outdoors.
Making the most of outdoor spaces
We take pride in providing outdoor space for our residents at Irwell Valley and these are some of the garden projects we have done so far! The horse, bespoke mural and large planter at Bowker Street has given residents a project to do together during the spring and summer months, where as you can see the results are outstanding. The steel figures were used as picnic partners for the children in the area and became part of the community.
The dressings finish off the designs and bring the whole scheme together. The vases, clocks, lighting and plants all complement the wallpaper where some residents have felt inspired to decorate their own homes. A lot of time and effort is put in to choosing the correct dressings for each individual area, including furniture for our lounges. Residents are very appreciative of what we provide and feel it has had a positive impact on their wellbeing.
