We’ve joined forces with Salford Stop Smoking Services and Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) to support their ‘Swap to Stop’ initiative, which aims to help people quit the habit by switching to vaping.
Residents who sign up to take part will be given a free e-cigarette starter kit, including four weeks’ worth of vaping liquid, plus support to help them quit.
Research from Public Health England shows that vaping is 95% less harmful than regular smoking and costs just a fraction of the price, with the average smoker spending around £170 per month on cigarettes.
Sasha Deepwell, CEO of Irwell Valley said: “We’re is very proud to support this campaign, which we hope will help improve the health of smokers and the wider public and encourage people to ditch the cigarettes.
“The harmful effects of smoking are well known, but in addition to the obvious health benefits, quitting smoking could also save you up to £100 every single month.
“The Swap to Stop campaign is the perfect opportunity to try and quit smoking, and it’s already been proven that smokers find e-cigarettes helpful in quitting.”
The GMHSCP has set a target to reduce the number of smokers in Greater Manchester by 30% by 2020 in a bid to improve people’s health and reduce pressures on the NHS through smoking-related illness.
