Claire Griffiths has joined Irwell Valley Housing Association as its Executive Director, Growth & Development.
In a newly created position, she will lead on delivering the Association’s new Growth and Development Strategy and, since her appointment in August, she is already embarking on a building programme of over 600 new homes in Greater Manchester.
It’s an ambitious programme but not one to faze the Executive Director who comes with over twenty five years experience in the housing development and regeneration sector.
“It’s an exciting time to join Irwell Valley and be working in Greater Manchester. The Association is on a firm footing, with strong performance and operating surplus. We will be developing on sites already in our ownership and building on our relationships with developers and local authorities to deliver affordable homes across a range of tenures to meet the needs of customers. We are committed to developing high quality schemes that will add value to the areas where we operate and provide a quality offer to customers who are currently unable to afford properties on the open market.”
The former Executive Director of Property at Plus Dane adds her remit goes far beyond just bricks and mortar.
‘”The contribution that affordable housing will make to the city region's ambitions should not be underestimated. It is increasingly evident that many are now unable to afford decent housing and be fully part of the Greater Manchester success story. Irwell Valley will contribute towards creating desirable and sustainable communities where people will want to live and thrive".
Sasha Deepwell, CEO, Irwell Valley says:
“I am delighted that Claire has joined Irwell Valley. She has exceptional credentials to ensure that Irwell Valley delivers a significant programme of new, well designed, cost effective homes and plays its full part in contributing to the housing ambitions of communities across Greater Manchester.”
