Greenbank, a supported housing scheme for homeless young people in Trafford and managed by Irwell Valley HA, has achieved a staggering 8 As in the Government’s Quality Assessment Framework, the standards for supporting people providers.
Trafford Supporting People Team who fund the service use the Quality Assessment Framework to assess the quality of the service provided and chart progress in continuous improvement. Greenbank picked up straight As across the board making it the first service in Trafford to be awarded the top grade in all standards, meeting all the core objectives of the Supporting People programme which offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by providing a stable environment and progress towards greater independence.
Commenting on the achievement, Giles Parlett, Supporting People Manager at Irwell Valley said “I am hugely pleased and proud that the service at Greenbank has been recognised for the fantastic work that it does in helping young people in Trafford develop their independence and continue to fulfil their potential. I would like to thank the residents, the dedicated staff team and all the other agencies involvedin helping us gain this recognition.’’
The head of the Supporting People Team who carry out the inspection, Ian Peet said “Our recent inspection demonstrates that Greenbank is providing an excellent service helping homeless young people in Trafford gain the skills and knowledge needed to achieve and maintain independence.”
Greenbank provides supported accommodation for up to 20 young people aged between 16 and 25. Trained staff offer individual development packages to improve confidence, motivation and life skills of residents. The average length of stay is eight months. Local councillors will visit Greenbank February 25 where they will present staff with a certificate of quality.
