Horwich

Horwich is 5 miles north west of Bolton and lies at the edge of the West Pennine Moors and the borough of Chorley

Leisure
Horwich has a golf course and leisure centre incorporating a swimming pool, fitness suite, badminton and squash facilities. In the adjacent Old Station Park there is a floodlit all weather pitch for football and other games.

There is a public bowling green behind the Public Hall and other crown green facilities at pubs and clubs in the town. Cricket is played at the RMI ground on Ramsbottom Road and Wallsuches Conservation Area off Chorley Old Road provides great fishing facilities.

Horwich has enjoyed a boom in leisure facilities in recent years starting with the building of the Reebok Stadium, home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club. There is a multi-screen cinema, a ten pin bowling centre and Bolton Arena which has a host of facilities including a conference centre, fitness suite, running track and several multi-use areas.
Shopping
You can find interesting and varied shopping in Horwich. As well as small specialist shops in the town centre, there are the major food and household outlets at the Lostock end of the town. The market is open Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. In addition, Manchester city centre and The Trafford Centre (Jn 9 & 10 M60) are the last word in shopping destinations for the shopaholic!
Food, Drink and What's On

All the main streets are full of restaurants, chippies and take aways and there are plenty of pubs in this town of…from the modern to the proper pubby pub!

There’s a 12 screen multiplex cinema next to the Reebok Stadium as well as frequent concerts of all types of music, organised by local clubs and societies. The musical production from Horwich RMI Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society is now held in the Albert Hall, Bolton

A two day Carnival is held in the summer with a parade and entertainment.

Public Transport

The nearest stations are at Horwich Parkway, Blackrod and Lostock where there are "Park and Ride" facilities.

Horwich Parkway Rail Station at Middlebrook, (next to the Reebok Stadium). links Preston and Blackpool to the north and Bolton and Manchester to the south. The Station is supported by a regular bus services and taxis.
