Chorlton
Chorlton is about four miles south of the city centre of Manchester. It's not far from Princess Parkway - a major route into the city from the M56 and the motorway network.

Chorlton itself is a well established residential area and increasingly popular amongst people working in the creative industries. Artist/musician Badly Drawn Boy currently lives in Chorlton. Ian Brown and John Squire of The Stone Roses also grew up in Chorlton and The Bee Gees spent their early childhood living on 51, Keppel Road, Chorlton. Chorlton is also known for the multiple award winning Cosgrove Hall animation studios

Chorlton Green just off the buzzing Beech Rd and within 5 minutes walking distance of Chorlton is a conservation area and home to one of the most popular and oldest pubs in the area – The Horse & Jockey.
Leisure
Chorlton Leisure centre has a swimming pool, a fitness centre, sauna and sports hall. Chorlton Park in the middle of the area has bowls, a children's play area, tennis courts and football pitches. The park hosts a variety of events like fundays, festivals and fairs. There is a youth club and community play centre there too. There are more pitches, courts and bowling at Hough End playing fields off Mauldeth Road. There are country walks and cycle paths in the nearby Mersey Valley, and playgrounds, fishing and water sports at Chorlton Water Park.
Shopping
There are local shops and a small supermarket on Barlow Moor Road and along Mauldeth Road, and a Morrisons supermarket and a variety of other shops including Chorlton Precinct in Chorlton centre. Nearby Beech Rd is packed with small independent retailers. Chorlton is also exceptionally well served by the major high street banks (several of them can be located at the crossroads of Barlow Moor Rd and Wilbraham Rd).
Food and Drink and What's On

Chorlton is now becoming a real hot spot for food and drink enthusiasts. It’s packed with quality delicatessens, a first class fishmonger, a great butcher, a renowned bakery, a wonderful wholefood store and an amazing variety of independent bars and restaurants. Chorlton Food & Drink Festival held in October for 10 days is an annual event.. Chorlton Arts Festival is another popular event on the calendar held each May.

Public Transport

There are very frequent buses along Barlow Moor Road to the centre of Manchester. The Manchester-Chorlton circular service 85C/86C from GM Buses runs every 10 minutes in each direction during Mon-Sat daytimes and every 30 minutes during evenings and Sundays, plus evening and Sunday journeys on the 86 route to Hardy Lane in Chorlton every 30 minutes
