Rossendale's industry is still based on textiles and footwear and there are many mill shops and factory outlets selling quality goods at reasonable prices including E Sutton & Son Factory Shoe Shop on Newchurch Rd in Bacup.
Food and Drink
There's lots of choice, including fine country dining, especially in country house hotels and a variety of traditional inns. There are opportunities to sample in-town restaurants and bistros or charming tea rooms, where you can enjoy delicious home made pastries and cakes. More traditional dishes are not to be missed and can still be found in pubs and cafes. Here, original recipes, such as Lancashire Hot Pot remain a best kept secret! You can also sample the rich cultural culinary delights at specialist restaurants including Italian, Chinese, and Indian food.
You can also sample a time honoured beverage such as black beer or sarsaparilla at one of Britain's last reaming temperance bars, Fitzpatrick's in Rawtenstall.
