Urmston Leisure Centre is in Flixton next to Flixton Girls High School.Facilities at the centre include swimming pool and sauna, sports hall, fitness studios. all weather pitches, and a café.
Nearby Sale offers plenty of attractions including the Trafford Water Sports Centre, where courses such as sailing, windsurfing and kayaking are available. The Sale Waterside Arts Centre is an exciting at a stunning waterside location, with a 350-seat theatre, exhibition gallery, creative learning spaces and an outdoor events plaza with bars and restaurants.

The Trafford Centre a large shopping and leisure complex, is just north of Urmston (Jn 9 & 10 M60)
Public Transport
Urmston is connected to Liverpool and Manchester by the Manchester-Liverpool Railway, which passes through Warrington, and Liverpool South Parkway (for Liverpool Airport). There are four railway stations in the Urmston area (Humphrey Park and Urmston stations in Urmston and Chassen Road and Flixton stations in neighbouring Flixton). Trains stopping at these stations are operated by Northern Rail.
Urmston is not served by Metrolink. The nearest Metrolink stations are in Stretford and Eccles.

Education
Flixton has a selective education system assessed by the Eleven Plus examination. The closest of Trafford's grammar schools to Flixton is Urmston Grammar School. Flixton Girls' High School is a non-selective sports specialist community high school, taking girls aged 11–16 of all abilities.
There are four primary, infant or junior schools in Urmston, along with two secondary schools, Urmston Grammar School and St Antony's Catholic College which is a specialist Business and Enterprise College
