A message from our Chief Executive
“Irwell Valley is an
award winning housing association with an exciting new agenda for social housing.
“Based in Manchester, we have been providing homes and services for people in housing need since 1973.
“Irwell Valley is founded on the values of a traditional housing association and we see ourselves as more than just a landlord. Our aim is to create fantastic places for people to live, work and enjoy life. To do this we provide homes that go well beyond the Decent Homes standard and foster a working environment where colleagues are encouraged to reach their full potential.
“At the heart of our vision is
Gold Service, our award winning loyalty scheme, which was pioneered by Irwell Valley in 1998. Gold Service is based on a culture of tough rights and responsibilities. It rewards positive, loyal behaviour with benefits and rewards and actively discourages negative practices, such as
anti-social behaviour.
“Gold Service isn’t just a scheme for residents; it incorporates our colleagues, stakeholders and partners, and underpins all that we do at Irwell Valley. Since its launch over
ten years ago, we’ve been enormously proud of the contributions it has made to our residents and colleagues, and the way it has shaped our neighbourhoods into fantastic places to live.”

Tom Manion, Chief Executive, Irwell Valley Housing Association
Our Residents
We work hard to understand the needs and preferences of each of our 16,000 residents and tailor our services to significantly improve their quality of life. We actively encourage residents to get involved in the running of the organisation and provide us with feedback on our services and policies. To make sure we are in touch with residents’ points of view, we hold regular resident forums and have a dedicated Customer Involvement Officer.
Our Communities
Every Irwell Valley neighbourhood has a dedicated member of our
Neighbourhood Regeneration Team, who works to deliver a range of community initiatives and improvement schemes.
In 2007, we set up a new
Neighbourhood Management Service, which provides each resident with their very own Neighbourhood Officer who is based in their community on a regular basis and deliver services directly to their door.
A Positive Environment
As many of our colleagues work within our neighbourhoods on a daily basis, Irwell Valley have a visible presence and can address issues such as
anti-social behaviour (ASB) and crime, quickly and efficiently.
Irwell Valley has a long-term commitment to reducing ASB throughout its communities and works in partnership with other agencies, such as the police and local authorities, to tackle the issue. Throughout the years, we have pioneered several successful schemes, which have to reduced incidents of ASB. To find out more,
