Neighbourhood Regeneration
Creating fantastic neighbourhoods requires more than just physical regeneration; it involves a range of neighbourhood activities that reflect the needs of the local community.
Our Neighbourhood Managers work within neighbourhoods alongside our customers and in partnership with other key agencies, such as local authorities, police, and youth services. Part of their role is to help develop and deliver Neighbourhood Plans for each specific Irwell Valley neighbourhood.
The aim of each Neighbourhood Plan is to:
- Identify the aspirations and concerns of residents
- Demonstrate and indicate what actions are required to deliver our aims
- Maximise resources available to residents
- Create fantastic neighbourhoods
Each plan is built around seven key themes that have been identified as priorities by local residents:
- Resident consultation
- Children & young people
- A safer community
- Quality of life
- Employment & training
- Economic viability
- Environment
Within these seven key themes, Irwell Valley will cover a range of subjects including strategies to increase employment and training opportunities and financial inclusion. The Neighbourhood Plan will also address ways to combat anti-social behaviour within an area and improve provisions for children and young people during school holidays.
In January 2010, Irwell Valley sent surveys to all residents asking for their views on the above themes, the results of which formed new Neighbourhood Plans for 2010/11 for each and every one of our neighbourhoods.
