It’s enough to make you sick!

I heard someone describe employee absenteeism as the ‘guilty secret’ for many organisations in the UK. At a cost of almost £17bn, absence is an enormous burden on the economy.

For years now, Irwell Valley has invested in health and wellbeing of our colleagues – as well as our customers. We have recently introduced new measures to ensure colleague absence remains at a minimum. Our Absence Line and workplace based GP consultation, enables us to focus more on the underlying causes, take preventative action and offer better focused support when illness occurs. Irwell Valley has one of the lowest sickness rates in the country. This means that more colleagues are in work and serving you - our customers.

All 3 main political parties have their sight firmly set on the social housing sector. The proposals by some Councils to evict tenants -and their families – for their involvement in the disturbances in August, prompted once again a debate how social housing should be allocated.

Do you agree that people who ‘show responsibility’ by being in work and contributing to their community should get priority access to social housing? Or do you think this proposal would affect the most vulnerable? Please complete the form below as I would like to hear from you.

Best wishes,
