Falklands War Veteran, Simon Weston OBE delivers a gift from Irwell Valley Housing to our soldiers
War veteran and charity campaigner Simon Weston OBE, who inspired a nation with his recovery from life threatening injuries after his ship was hit by an Argentine missile during the Falklands War, will hand over a cheque for £14,000 on behalf of Irwell Valley Housing Association to Help For Heroes this Wednesday September 7 2011 at The Zion Arts Centre in Manchester.
Irwell Valley Housing raised the mammoth figure after covering thousands of miles in sponsored walking, running, cycling and swimming events across the North West and a 48 hour motorbike challenge from Manchester to Dover to the World War 1 and 11 Memorials in France and Belgium
Their spirited efforts were backed by host of celebrities including Simon and Coronation St. actress Beverley Callard (above)
The presentation will be made to ex-serviceman Kevin Mitchell on behalf of Help For Heroes at:
