Two reports in the last two weeks on the subject of neighbours have arrived at opposite conclusions: one says that neighbourliness is on the up and that on average we can all name six neighbours by name.
The other says it’s definitely on the way out with twice as many people as thirty years ago saying they would ‘never’ call on their next door neighbour.
So how much do we still care about the role of being a neighbour?
Tom Manion, Chief Executive of Irwell Valley Housing Association and author Anna Minton joined Jenni Murray on Radio 4 Woman’s Hour on Friday June 18 in a live discussion with contributions from Haughton Green residents, Anne Saxon, Fran Garlick, Phil Green and Carol Bruder.
