Don't Tip on Our Parade
Resident who left paper trail faces prosecution over fly tipping
The action follows a surprise inspection by Irwell Valley on the Sale Estate in Trafford and now the Association, which manages over 7,000 properties throughout Greater Manchester, is issuing a stern reminder to all its residents that fly tipping will not be tolerated.
Angela Raftery MD at Irwell Valley said "We're working with our local authority partners to eradicate this anti social activity. It poses a serious threat to our residents' health as well as to the environment. Our officers will be carrying out spot inspections and with the help of the majority law abiding residents we can combat the problem"
Executive councillor Jonathan Coupe, Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council, which is carrying out the prosecution said,
"Fly-tipping is a serious crime and has a detrimental impact on Trafford's environment. We want to encourage residents to have pride in their neighbourhoods, not think it is acceptable to dump rubbish. ANybody disposing of waste inappropriately should be aware the council will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will take enforcement action where necessary."
The clamp down on fly tipping is just one in a series of measures recently announced by Irwell Valley, which is increasing its penalties against anti-social activity which could include naming and shaming offenders.
"Where we find residents have vandalised their properties or left their homes in arrears with no explanation, we will take very serious action.
Anyone experiencing difficulty in paying their rent has access to our Legal Services department which offers free and confidential advice and there is no excuse for wrecking properties which costs the Association thousands of pounds to repair" said Ms Raftery.
The Association is also considering offering cash incentives to anyone who can provide information about residents who intend to leave their property without notice and paying rent or other charges or any information that leads to the successful trace of a resident who has left a property having caused damage.
Residents can also report anti-social behaviour in confidence at
