Sound Advice

Irwell Valley's Financial Inclusion Adviser, Emma Burke takes to the airwaves with sound advice on how to beat the credit crunch.

Emma Burke dropped into Tameside Radio 103.6FM to talk about Irwell Valley's work with MiNT - Money Information Network Tameside - set up by organisations in the Tameside area to provide advice on financial matters from accessing the right type of financial services to courses which can help people manage their money.
 
Emma told listeners about Irwell Valley's Citizens' Advice Outreach Surgery which is run in conjunction with the local Citizens Advice Bureau.  The Surgery operates every Wednesday 9.00am - 12.00pm from the Health Centre on Tatton Road and offers a free and confidential service.  No appointment is required.
 
Emma said the current economic downturn has seen an increase in the number of people seeking money advice.  Residents in tenancies are facing rising fuel and food costs and budgeting and money saving ideas have never been so important.
 
Working closely with financial experts, Emma has also produced a newsletter full of advice and tips for residents who might be in arrears or struggling to make ends meet and visitors to the Irwell Valley website will soon be able to visit it on line at www.irwellvalleyha.co.uk follow link to Money Matters.
 
The Legal Services Department at Irwell Valley also operates a freephone advice line, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 9.00am - 5.00pm; Tuesdays 10.00am - 5.00pm and Wednesdays 9.00am - 6.30pm.
