She’s worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment and Simon Cowell described her as ‘the scariest woman in showbusiness’
Now the coach to the stars is offering young people in Greater Manchester the top tips that have helped the likes of Robbie Williams, Jack Osborne and Julian Clary get ahead of their game. Irwell Valley Housing Association and the Community Foundation for Greater Manchester have signed up TV presenter and performance coach Kate Marlow to run an exclusive 10-week summer school for 14 -16 year olds in Salford.
Kate’s a familiar -and formidable - face and voice in front and behind the camera. She’s appeared on the BAFTA nominated Channel 4 show MTA - Model Turned Actor, Reality Check and The Underdogs which followed six teenagers, each with their own behavioural problems, for a month as they attempted to train six rescued dogs in time to be shown at Crufts.
She was the acting coach on Channel 5’s Make Me a Supermodel, brushed shoulders with Simon Cowell on Pop Idol and worked him with on the X Factor. In between, Kate also works for Glamour magazine as their career coach.
Places are limited for the summer school that starts in July, but the lucky 10 who make it onto the course will be put through their paces learning how to improve their self-confidence and acquire the kind of skills that have already seen some of Kate’s former students forge a career on the boardwalks in London and LA and in television presenting.
Phyllis Boardman, MD at Irwell Valley says “ Kate is well known and respected in the industry for her ability to help young people succeed and improve their life and educational opportunities. This is something we are totally committed to at Irwell Valley and matches the work we do in neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester. We’re delighted to be working with her”
'Kate Marlow is brilliant, she should be cloned and sent to every school and workplace in the country' - Sara Cox Radio
